If an A4 PDF is printed on US Letter at 100%, or a Letter PDF on A4, part of the page may be clipped because the proportions differ. Choose Fit only when preserving all content matters more than exact measurements.
How to Print PDF Actual Size in a Browser or Adobe Reader
The names vary slightly, but the rule is the same: select the correct paper first, then disable automatic scaling and verify the preview.
Chrome, Edge and browser print dialogs

- 2.Open Print, expand More settings, and select the correct Paper size.
- 3.Set Scale to Custom and enter 100. Disable Fit to page or Scale to fit if shown.

- In Acrobat Booklet, choose Both sides for auto duplex or Front side only, then Back side only for manual duplex.

Margins and borderless limits
Most home printers cannot place ink at the very edge. Actual size preserves scale but may clip artwork outside the printable area.
- Keep essential content inside the safe margin shown in the PDF.
- Borderless mode often enlarges the page slightly to prevent white slivers, so avoid it for rulers and templates.
- If edge-to-edge color is essential, use bleed on larger paper and trim, or use a professional print shop.
- Do not solve clipping with Fit when physical dimensions must stay exact.
Save ink without changing scale
Economy settings can reduce ink use without resizing the page, as long as draft quality does not make fine measurement marks disappear.
- Use grayscale or black-and-white for worksheets that do not rely on color coding.
- Choose Draft or Economy quality for planners; use Standard for fine grids, barcodes or tiny labels.

Is Actual size the same as 100% scale?
